Dr. Jacquana Dowson is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over 15 years of healthcare experience. She is credentialed through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and has experience in primary and urgent care, pediatrics, retail health, and academia.

Dr. Dowson is a native Houstonian who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). After graduation, she began her nursing career working in children’s services, including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intermediate Medical Unit at a level I trauma hospital in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center.

In 2014, Dr. Dowson returned to UTMB to complete a Master of Science in Nursing, broadening her experience from pediatrics to family care. She went on to obtain a Doctor of Nursing Practice in April 2023 from UTMB. Her dissertation focused on mental illness during the coronavirus pandemic and is entitled, The COVID-19 Pandemic Impact on Mental Health: Improving Depression Screenings in Community Clinics.

With a knowledge base spanning primary and urgent care, pediatrics, mental health, weight loss, and beyond, Dr. Dowson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Wellness Center. She is thorough, compassionate, and committed to providing high-quality patient-centered care. She partners with each patient to develop a strong patient-provider relationship and combines evidence-based care with alternative treatments to attain and sustain optimal health outcomes for her patients.
